Upgrading
Go to Settings → Billing and click Upgrade. Razorpay handles the checkout — credit cards, UPI, and netbanking are all supported. Your Pro features activate the moment the payment is verified.
Pause vs cancel
We support two ways to stop billing. They're intentionally different — pick based on whether you might come back:
-
Pause — reversible. Razorpay stops charging your card. You keep Pro until the end of your current billing period. Click Resume at any time to restart billing from where it left off. Your existing forms, settings, and responses all stay intact.
-
Cancel permanently — terminal. Razorpay terminates the subscription at the end of your current billing period. You keep Pro until then. After expiry, your account moves to the Free plan. This cannot be undone — to come back you'll start a new subscription.
The reason for the distinction is technical: once Razorpay processes a cancel, the subscription is terminal on their side. Pause is what Razorpay supports for "I might come back." If you click Cancel and change your mind two days later, you'll need to wait out the grace period and re-subscribe at the end.
What you see in the dashboard
Settings → Billing shows different controls depending on your state:
-
Active — green "active" pill, plus a Manage subscription link. Clicking it reveals the Pause / Cancel permanently choice.
-
Paused — dark "paused" pill, plus a Resume button. Pro features remain active until your current period ends.
-
Ending soon (cancellation requested) — dark pill with the end date. No further action possible; Pro features stay until expiry, after which your account becomes Free.
What happens to your data
Downgrading to Free or letting a cancellation complete does not delete your forms or responses. You may lose Pro-only features (auto-responder, webhooks, multiple email recipients, etc.) and hit Free tier limits, but everything stays in your account.
If a form has more than the Free limit of submissions when you downgrade, existing responses stay in your inbox. New submissions on forms that exceed the free response cap are rejected with an error.
Refunds
If a payment is refunded through Razorpay, the user is automatically moved back to Free. Refund-driven downgrades are processed by our webhook handler within seconds of Razorpay's notification.
Subscription status terminology
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| active | Subscription is current and billing on schedule. |
| paused | No upcoming charges. Pro access remains until period end. Resume any time. |
| halted | Razorpay is retrying a failed payment. Pro access remains during the retry window. |
| cancelled | Permanently terminal. Pro until period end, then Free. |
| expired | Past period end with no renewal. Account moved to Free. |
